HAMILTON, Ont. – In front of a record-setting crowd at the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series event in Hamilton, Ontario, Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) showed up and showed out, going a flawless 2-for-2 to win the PBR Hamilton Classic and further his stronghold on the No. 1 rank in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. Tetz has now won three of the four PBR Canada Cup Series events held to date in 2026.
As action got underway in Round 1, Tetz first put points on the board when he delivered the third-best score, covering Rip Dinger (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) for 84.1 points.
The two-time PBR Canada Champion then elected to go head-to-head with More or Less (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in the championship round. In a decision which proved dividends, Tetz dominated the powerful animal athlete for an event-best 89 points, cementing the win.
Tetz left TD Coliseum having earned a crucial 125 national points. He extended his lead to 315.83 points over No. 2 Jeremy Maisonneuve (Val-des-monts, Quebec), who was not competing in Hamilton due to injury, in the national standings. Chasing history this season, should Tetz be crowned the 2026 PBR Canada Champion, he would tie Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) for most national titles won by one rider with three.
Second was Brazilian sensation Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil).
Santana netted 83 national points for his 83.9-point ride on Bonspiel Bishop (Vold Rodeo) in Round 1, and 88.7-point score aboard No Limits (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) in the championship round.
In the Canadian standings, Santana rose from No. 5 to No. 3, now 365.83 points behind No. 1 Tetz.
As the final rider to be a flawless 2-for-2 in Hamilton, Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) was third.
After outlasting War Ready (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) for 84 points in Round 1, Green bested Holy Smokes (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 85.8 points in the championship round.
Leaving TD Coliseum with 69 national points, Green rose from No. 6 to No. 4 in the national standings, now 407.33 points behind No. 1 Tetz.
Tyler Craig (Crossfield, Alberta) was fourth.
Craig was electric in the opening round, logging the top score when he made the requisite 8 on A List (Legend Rodeo) for 85.3 points. The reserved Albertan, however, was denied the win when he was upended by Surprise Twist (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in a swift 1.68 seconds in the final round.
Craig netted 49 national points and climbed from No. 21 to No. 17 in the national standings.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Griffin Koester (Rockyford, Alberta).
Koester posted the second-best score of the opening round when he covered Whoopsie Hustle (CJ Bucking Bulls) for 84.3 points. His momentum, however, was halted in the final round when he was bucked off by reigning PBR Canada Bull of the Year Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in 3.93 seconds. During the out, Moonwalk was marked an unrivaled 44.3 points, earning him the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event honors.
Returning to Alberta with 35 national points, Koester rose from No. 16 to No. 11 in the national standings.
The PBR Canada Sup Series will next travel to London, Ontario, and Canada Life Place for the PBR London Classic on Friday, June 5. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Canada Life Place Gate 1 Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.ca.
