The 25th anniversary of PBR Canada action in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, gets underway on Friday, Oct. 23. Photo: Covy Moore.

SASKATOON, Sask. – As we kick off the last regular season event of the year, the last Canada Cup Series event of the year, we’re in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is always one of the one the guys look forward to. It used to be the PBR Canada National Finals back in the day. Always great crowds, great support from the Saskatoon community, 25 years in the making.

I'm looking for a sold-out crowd with a bunch of great rides and the boys showing up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the PBR in Saskatoon.

Friday night, we're looking for a bunch of great action. We're going to see a lot of different bulls from a lot of different contractors, kind of similar to Medicine Hat. All of these guys are making a case for their bulls to get in front of Livestock Director Zane Lambert to see if they can qualify for the Finals, and also see where they're going to fit, which pen they're going to go into at the Finals. So, a lot on the line for these bulls, a lot on the line for the riders for the Championship, as well as that bubble race to get into the Finals. So, last big chance to do it, other than Yorkton at the Touring Pro Division event, but the last chance at a Cup event to get a pile of points and move themselves up in the standings.

We're going to see a lot of great rides from Tanner Eno, Stefan Tonita, Coy Robbins, Jordan Hansen. I can see Aaron Roy doing good. Marshall Senger's got a rematch, which is going to be really good.

Below are my bets for Round 1 of the event from Saskatoon. Let us know your thoughts and your picks for the Cup Series event by tagging @PBRCanada on X.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.ca.

Grady Young vs. Jerry

Jerry comes from the Shay Marks Bucking Bull firm. Shay always brings the good ones to town. He's got a phenomenal breeding program, and we're starting to see the results of that at these Cup events. These bulls are stepping up and stepping out. This is a good one, should be in the gate to the left, spinning the whole time. A younger bull, and one that Grady can show off a little bit with, I think, and have some fun. He had a tough go in Medicine Hat at the Cup event last weekend. Coming off that Canadian Championship in the CPRA, look for him to get some vengeance this weekend, stepping all over Jerry, and set himself up great for the rest of the weekend to try to get enough points to get off that bubble race and get in the mix of things to head into the PBR Canada National Finals.

Tyler Craig vs. Grind My Gears
This is a rematch for Tyler Craig. He rode this bull in Marwayne earlier this year for an 84-point ride. I look for all the same here. Tyler's really been stepping up the last little while. Tyler flies under the radar at all times. We forget that he's a PBR Canada National Finals Champion. He was out all last season, pretty much, with a very, very serious injury to his neck that a lot of people didn't think that he might come back from, and he's bounced back better than ever, got himself in that Top 5, right in the running for a Canadian Championship. We see what he does when he gets to the Finals, so I’m looking forward to watching Tyler finish off this season. I think this ride is going to go the exact same as it did at Marwayne, mid 80-point score, set himself up great, and Tyler can keep that consistency going into the last part of the season.

Weston Davidson vs. Stray Bucks
Weston is on that bubble to get into the Finals. He’s in the 20th position, needs to make up some ground, needs to do some good here to solidify himself into Edmonton once again. This is a rematch for Weston. He rode this bull to 7.71 seconds earlier this season, so he knows what this bull feels like. This bull's got a few different trips, should be right in the gate to the right, could go out a few, around to the left, could go both ways. You’ve really got to ride this one jump or jump. With the way he bucks and kicks, if you get a good clean shot out of there, he's one that should ride good.  So, Weston knows what he feels like, knows what he's all about. This bull is in a short round quite often. We saw him buck off Nick Tetz in the in the championship round in Kelowna earlier this year. So this is one that is a possible round win. The way that that Weston rides, could be 87-88 points here.

Jayden Roy vs. Surprise Twist
We see Jayden come off of his first PBR Canada Cup Series win last weekend in a Medicine Hat, looked absolutely phenomenal. I think it’s the direct results of getting to hang out with Justin McBride and the Nashville Stampede. Get that confidence in himself and know how good he really is. We all knew how good he was coming from out east, coming into Alberta, we saw how good he rode at Brandon and some earlier events. But he really stepped his game up even more this last part of the season. A huge notch on your belt to win a Cup Series event and he knocked that off the list last weekend. I look for him to just keep that momentum rolling. This is a black, white-face bull from Thompson Rodeo. A few different trips to him. I've seen this bull be the best bull out on certain nights, and other nights, he might not have that exact same trip. So, depending on the trip, if this bull has his day, once again, could be a possible round win. Should be around the right, really kicks, really bucks. We’ve seen Garrett Green have success on this bull. I'm really high on this bull and I hope that we get a good matchup here for once again, 87-88 points for Jayden.

Nick Tetz vs. One Spot
Tetz sitting No. 1 in the standings right now, trying to hold on to that No. 1 position going into the Finals and win that year end title, and then keep that momentum rolling and try to win himself another Canadian Championship. Everyone knows that that's Tetz’ goal is to win these Canadian Championships within the PBR and he's proven that he can do it year in and year out, and this year looks no different. One Spot is a bull from MT Bar Bucking Bulls. I've seen a couple videos of this bull. Looks like he's right in the gate to the right, kicking and spinning. I’ve seen some videos of some lower level events, of guys having some success on him. Maybe not making the whistle, but starting him pretty good, and I think a guy of Nick’s calibre is going to ride this bull and have good success, 86-87 points, keep that momentum rolling. Keep getting bulls rode and keep putting himself in a position to win and win that Championship.
