BROOKS, Alta. – As a raucous crowd watched on Friday night in Brooks, Alberta, Grady Young (Leader, Saskatchewan) rode supreme, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win his first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada event, victorious at the Touring Pro Division’s Koye Larson Memorial PBR featuring Chancey Williams.

As action got underway in Round 1, Young delivered the second-best score, outlasting Bangers & Mash (Kinky Buckers) for 84.9 points. He then continued his momentum in the championship round, cementing the event win when he conquered Dirty Habits (Legend Rodeo) for a commanding 88.8 points.

The 20-year-old left the event earning 59 national points. He vaulted from unranked to No. 19 in the Canadian national standings.

Young gun Jeremy Maisonneuve (Val-des-monts, Quebec) was second, netting 48 national points.

Fresh off his first Cup Series win in Brandon, Manitoba, Maisonneuve was electric in the opening round, delivering the top marks when he made the requisite 8 on Fever (Vold Rodeo) for 85.1 points.

In the final round, Maisonneuve again made the whistle, riding King Pin (Kinky Buckers) for 87 points, but it was not enough to keep him atop the leaderboard.

Chasing his first berth to the PBR Canada National Finals this November, the 19-year-old closed the gap on the top spot. Remaining No. 2, Maisonneuve lessened No. 1 Nick Tetz’ (Calgary, Alberta) lead from 234 points to 197.83 points.

Two-time PBR Canada Champion Tetz tied for seventh, earning 11.83 points. He rode Tire Fire (Kinky Buckers) for 83.5 points in Round 1 before being tossed by Choices (Eno Bucking Bulls) in a close 7.6 seconds in the final round.

Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, Jhett Wheeler (Sylvain Lake, Alberta) was third.

As the final rider to cover both of his animal athlete opponents, Wheeler rode YOLO (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) for 83.5 points in Round 1, and Phantom (Vold Rodeo) for 87.2 points in the final round, earning 32.33 points.

Wheeler climbed four spots in the national standings, rising from No. 20 to No. 16 in Canada.

Three-time PBR Canada Champion Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) was fourth, garnering 18 national points.

Roy was bucked off in a close 5.9 seconds in the opening round by High Voltage (Wilson Rodeo). The veteran, however, was quick to rebound in the final round, topping Monster Chip (TFB Ranch) for 85.9 points.

Looking to capture his unprecedented fourth national title this November, Roy rose from No. 12 to No. 9 in the national standings, propelled within 357.33 points of No. 1 Tetz.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was 2022 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year Cauy Schmidt (Coronation, Alberta).

Schmidt collected 17 national points for his 84.3-point ride on Tombstone (TFB Ranch) in the opening round. He rose from No. 24 to No. 21 in the national standings.

In the bull pen, Dirty Habits bucked supreme, crowned the Bull of the Event. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was marked an unrivaled 43.3 points for his event-best out with winner Young.
