LONDON, Ont. – As a sold-out, record-setting crowd watched on inside Canada Life Place in London, Ontario, Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) rode in dominant form, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series’ London Classic.
As action got underway in Round 1, West delivered the seventh best score when he outlasted Leader Of The Pack (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 83.7 points.
West then drafted Smudge (CJ Bucking Bulls) as his championship round bovine athlete opponent. In a decision which proved dividends, West dominated the bull for 85.8 points, enough to cement the win.
Courtesy of his victory, his first across all levels of PBR competition since 2022, West earned a crucial 121 national points. He surged from No. 40 to No. 18 in the race for the 2026 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus.
Atop the standings, No. 1 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) finished ninth at the PBR London Classic. Tetz rode Twisted Logic (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 83.8 points in Round 1, and did not compete in the championship round due to injury.
The finish earned him 18 national points, and Tetz now leads No. 2 Jeremy Maisonneuve (Val-des-monts, Quebec) by 333.83 points. Maisonneuve was not in competition in London due to injury.
Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta) was second, netting 79 national points.
Hansen rode Frigg Off (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 81.5 points in Round 1, and Holy Smokes (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 85.3 points in the championship round.
Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Hansen climbed from No. 32 to No. 22 in the national title battle.
As the final rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Andy Guzman (Oakdale, California) was third.
Guzman collected 57 national points for his 83.3-point effort aboard Equalizer (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) in Round 1, and 77-point trip atop Surprise Twist (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in the final round.
After travelling to Ontario unranked, Guzman is now No. 26 in Canada.
Two-time PBR Canada Champion and defending London Classic event winner Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) was fourth.
Buttar was unrivaled in the opening round, delivering the top marks when he made the requisite 8 on Joker On A Jack (Thompson Rodeo/K-Rose Ranch) for an event-best 87.2 points.
The veteran contender, however, fell short of the win when he was upended by More or Less (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in 4.99 seconds in the final round.
Returning to Saskatchewan with 49 national points, Buttar gained one position in the national standings, rising from No. 8 to No. 7. He now trails No. 1 Tetz by 452.33 points.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was young gun Jayden Roy (Mascouche, Quebec).
Fresh off being drafted by the Nashville Stampede for the 2026 PBR Teams season, Roy delivered a statement score in Round 1, covering Affairs In Order (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 85.4 points.
Roy’s momentum, however, came to an abrupt end in the final round when he was bucked off by Bo Diddley (Legend Rodeo) in a close 7.66 seconds.
The 18-year-old earned 35 national points and rose from No. 20 to No. 18 in Canada.
In the bull pen, reigning PBR Canada Bull of the Year Moonwalk (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) bucked supreme, crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was marked 44.2 points for his 2.52 seconds of work against Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil).
The PBR Canada Sup Series next travels to Ottawa, Ontario, and the Canadian Tire Centre for the PBR Ottawa Classic on Saturday, June 13. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Canadian Tire Centre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.ca.
