2021 PBR Rookie of the Year Eli Vastbinder Wins Third Night of Cody Snyder Charity Bullbustin’

CALGARY, Alta. – As the annual Cody Snyder Charity Bullbustin’ continued Thursday night in Calgary, Alberta, 2021 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rookie of the Year Eli Vastbinder (Statesville, North Carolina) showed up and showed out, winning the third installment of the PBR Canada Touring Pro Division event at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.

Vastbinder went head-to-head against Destination Unknown (Vodl Rodeo/R Saga Ranch) in front of the electric crowd. Proving to be a perfect pairing, Vastbinder dominated the bovine athlete for 89 points to cement the win.

Courtesy of the golden finish, Vastbinder collected 88 national points, climbing from No. 41 to No. 25 in Canada.

Two-time PBR Canada Champion and current Canadian No. 1 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) was second, netting 58 national points.

The hometown favorite secured the silver showing via his 88.9-point score aboard Cracker Jack (W Sunrise).

Chasing his record-tying third PBR Canada Championship this November, Tetz extended his lead atop the national standings, growing his lead to 368.33 points over No. 2 Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil).

Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta) was third.

Paley covered Wild Time (Vold Rodeo) for 88.6 points, garnering 44 national points. After beginning the Touring Pro Division event unranked, Paley catapulted to No. 32 in the standings.

Australian sensation Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Queensland, Australia) covered Crazy Coupe (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle) for 88.1 points to conclude the event fourth and earn 29 national points. Also unranked prior to his Top 5 finish Thursday night, Leather rose to No. 37 in Canada.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia).

PBR’s reigning Rookie of the Year earned 25 national points following his 87.2-point score on Petty Cash (Thompson Rodeo Livestock). He remained No. 24 in Canada.

In the bull pen, Destination Unknown bucked a cut above the rest, crowned the Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete was marked an unrivaled 43.5 points when he teamed with Vastbinder for the event-winning, 89-point ride.
