SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota – Going 2-for-4 inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dakota Buttar (Kindersley, Saskatchewan) finished 14th at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast’s First PREMIER Bank PREMIER Bankcard Invitational.

In Round 1 of the three-day event, the 26-year-old got off to a hot start, riding Buck Wild (J.D. Nix Rodeo Co.) for 82.75 points. Following the first night of action, Buttar sat tied for seventh in the overall event aggregate.

The next night, Buttar again made the 8 in front of the electric South Dakota crowd, covering Blonde Blizzard (EAH Song/Wallgren/6-C) for 85 points. The score was once again tied for the seventh best marks of the round.

His momentum, however, came to an end on the final day of competition in the Mount Rushmore State, bucked off by Audacious (D&H Cattle Co./444 Bucking Bulls) in 3.9 seconds in Round 3, and by Budakon (Hale/Braun/Grimes/Wallgren) in 5.46 seconds in the championship round.

For his efforts, Buttar netted $1,495 and 15 world points. He is now ranked No. 37 in the world, a mere five points outside of the Top 35.

Fellow Canuck Tanner Byrne (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) also made the journey stateside to compete alongside Buttar.

Unable to record a qualified ride in either Round 1 or 2 aboard Mason’s Missouri Golden (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) or Deaconator (Phenom/JCL/Swalin/Goods Bucking Bulls/Sankey Pro Rodeo), Byrne’s event came to an earlier than anticipated end when he was sidelined from Round 3 due to an aggravated right shoulder injury.

In the world standings, Byrne is now No. 45, 120 points outside of the Top 35.

While Buttar and Byrne competed in the United States on the premier tour, PBR Canada held the third Touring Pro Division (TPD) event of the year in Marwayne, Alberta.

As one of three riders to go a perfect 2-for-2, two-time PBR Canada Champion Zane Lambert (Ponoka, Alberta) earned his first event win of the season at the stop, netting $4,073.60, 320 Canadian and 60 world points.

In Round 1, Lambert rode Boomerang from event hosts Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls for 85.5 points, advancing to the championship round second in the overall event aggregate.

Continuing the momentum, the two-time Canadian Champion rode Wait For It (Thompson Rodeo) for 86.5 points to win the final round and capture the event title.

In the Canadian national standings, Lambert rose from No. 9 to No. 4 where he now trails No. 1 Jordan Hansen (Okotoks, Alberta) by 385.41 points. In the world standings, the Ponoka-native also gained notable ground. After beginning the third Touring Pro Division event of the 2019 season No. 103, he is now No. 80.

The elite PBR Unleash The Beast will next travel to Billings, Montana and Rimrock Auto Arena on April 12-14 for the Billings Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires.

PBR Canada competition will resume on Saturday, April 27 with the Brooks Black Gold PBR at Silver Sage Arena in Brooks, Alberta.
