LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) continued to ride in unstoppable form in Lethbridge, Alberta, this past weekend, delivering a flawless 2-for-2 performance to win his historic sixth consecutive PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series event inside VisitLethbridge.com Arena, victorious at the sold-out, record-setting South Country Co-op Showdown.
Tetz got off to a quick start in Round 1, delivering the second-best score as he covered Counting Sheep (Vold Rodeo) for 85.7 points. Continuing his momentum, the Albertan phenom then bested Linebacker (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 85.8 points in Round 2 to punch his ticket to the championship round as the event leader.
With the first pick in the championship round draft, the two-time PBR Canada Champion elected to go head-to-head with Pyper (Foley Bucking Bulls). A decision which proved dividends, Tetz made the requisite 8 with ease, scored an event-best 89.9 points to cement his victory.
Additionally on Friday night, Tetz also rode in the tour stop’s accompanying 5/5 Bucking Battle. Tetz topped Night Fury (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 84.6 points to finish third in the special round.
Tetz has now won every PBR Canada event in Lethbridge since 2022 and is a perfect 10-for-10 in Canada since the 2026 season has begun.
Leaving Lethbridge with 158.5 national points, Tetz extended his lead atop the national standings as he chases his record-tying third PBR Canada Championship this November. He now leads No. 2 Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) by 352 points.
Griffin Koester (Rockyford, Alberta) delivered a 3-for-3 showing of his own to finish second and collect 92 national points.
Koester’s efforts inside VisitLethbridge.com Arena included an 83.6-point ride on Kish Me Again (Wilson Rodeo) in Round 1, 81.5-point ride atop Woozy (Foley Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 and 86.8-point effort aboard Shockazoola (W Sunrise) in the final round.
Koester surged from No. 19 to No. 4 in the national standings. He now trails No. 1 Tetz by 369.5 points.
As the final rider to cover all of his animal athlete opponents at the two-day event, Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) was third.
Green advanced to the championship round courtesy of 82.1-point ride on Slingin Stones (Lazy P Rodeo) in Round 1, and 55-point ride on Nasty Panda (Foley Bucking Bulls) in Round 2.
The veteran contender then selected Magic Jam (Vold Rodeo) in the championship round bull draft. While Green made the whistle for 84.5 points it was not enough to catapult him to the win.
Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship at season’s end, Green collected 65 national points. He rose from unranked to No. 11 in the nation.
Fourth was Jake Gardner (Fort St. John, British Columbia).
Garnder was consistent in the tour stop’s opening two rounds, converting on Hammer Time (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 85.6 points in Round 1, and atop Patiently Waiting (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 83.7 points in Round 2.
Looking to ride that momentum in the championship round, Gardner’s hopes of victory were extinguished when he was tossed by Crazy Little Thing (Vold Rodeo) in a quick 3.1 seconds.
Much like Tetz, Gardner’s opening round score also earned him a spot in the event’s accompanying 5/5 Bucking Battle. In the special round, Gardner wowed the crowd as he covered Carved In Stone (Vold Rodeo/Sure Fire Bucking Bulls) for 86.3 points.
Leaving the PBR South Country Co-op Showdown with 69 national points, Gardner rose from No. 12 to No. 5 in the battle to be crowned the 2026 PBR Canada Champion and earn the accompanying $100,000 bonus. He is now 377 points behind No. 1 Tetz.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was two-time PBR Canada Champion Coverchuk. Going 2-for-3, Coverchuk conquered Jail Break (Legend Rodeo) for 81.3 points in Round 1, and Whistle Blower (Kinky Buckers) for 85.3 points in Round 2, before being upended by Night Fury (Skori Bucking Bulls) in a close 4.35 seconds in the final round.
The reserved Saskatchewan man earned 43 national points for his efforts, rising from No. 6 to No. 2 in Canada.
In the bull pen, Get Rhythm (Skori Bucking Bulls) bucked supreme, crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. Bucking in the championship round, the powerful animal athlete was scored an unrivaled 44.7 points for his 6.14-second buckoff of Dalton Allred (Cleveland, Utah).
The 2026 PBR Canada Sup Series will next travel to Brandon, Manitoba, and Assiniboine Credit Union Place for the PBR Mazergroup Chute Out on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2. Action will get underway nightly at 7 p.m. CT.
