RAYMOND, Alta. – As the 2025 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada season continued Wednesday night in Raymond, Alberta, Gilmar Santana (Ouro Preto, Brazil) showed up and showed out, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win the Touring Pro Division’s R.K. Heggie PBR and crack the Top 10 in the national standings.
As action got underway at the Raymond Rodeo Grounds, Santana was tasked with Kish Me Again (Wilson Rodeo) in Round 1. Proving to be a perfect pairing, Santana rode the bovine athlete for 84 points to finish second in the opening round.
The Brazilian newcomer then clinched the victory when he outlasted Bon Jovi (Wilson Rodeo) for 84.5 points in the final round.
Garnering 56 national points, Santana climbed from No. 21 to No. 13 in the battle for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. He inched within 620.67 points of No. 1 Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan) who did not compete in Raymond.
As the only other rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Logan Biever (Claresholm, Alberta) was second, collecting 43 national points.
Biever rode Key Linx Fingers (Big Stone Rodeo Co.) for 81 points in Round 1, and Disco Daze (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) for 84.5 points in the championship round.
The veteran Albertan catapulted from No. 45 to No. 31 in the Canadian standings.
Championship round winner Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta) was third.
After bucking off Nacho (W Sunrise) in 5.5 seconds in Round 1, Paley was quick to rebound. Next paired with Time Marches On (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in the final round, Paley reached the requisite 8 with ease, awarded an event-best 86.5 points to secure the bronze finish.
Leaving the Raymond Rodeo Grounds with 26 national points, Paley rose from No. 43 to No. 36 in Canada.
Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) was fourth.
Parsonage’s Round 1-winning, 84.5-point ride atop Jingle And Go (Wilson Rodeo) earned him a crucial 23 national points.
Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Parsonage remained No. 3 in the standings but closed within 141.17 points of No. 1 Buttar.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Wade Marshall (Invercargill, New Zealand).
Marshall made the whistle on High Plains Drifter (W Sunrise) for 82 points in Round 1 to collect 17 national points, rising from No. 55 to No. 40 in Canada.
In the bull pen, Write This Down (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) bucked a cut above the rest, anointed Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete was scored an unrivaled 44 points for bucking off Ashton Sahli (Red Deer, Alberta) in a quick 1.13 seconds in Round 1.
