SUNNYBROOK, Alta. – On Saturday night in Sunnybrook, Alberta, 2017 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Rookie of the Year Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) dominated, sweeping both rounds of competition at the Touring Pro Division event at Sunnybrook Hotel and Bar to win the Buckin’ At The Brook.
In Round 1, Robbins went head-to-head with Dealing After Midnight (Thompson Rodeo Livestock). Remaining in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete, Robbins was marked a round-winning 86 points.
Robbins then readied to take on Times A Tickin (Thompson Rodeo Livestock). Nodding with confidence, the reserved Albertan made the requisite 8 with ease. Scored an event-best 87 points, the qualified ride not only won Robbins the round, but also the event.
Courtesy of the golden finish, Robbins netted 62 points in the race for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus. He rose from No. 8 to No. 6 in Canada, climbing within 396.5 points of No. 1 Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan).
Tristen Manning (Edson, Alberta) was second.
After riding Midnight Rider (S&M Bucking Bulls) for 84.5 points in Round 1, Manning came up short of challenging for the victory when he was bucked off by Hell and Back (S&M Bucking Bulls) in 3.56 seconds in Round 2.
Via a double entry, Manning also finished sixth. His second Top 10 result was headlined by an 81.5-point ride atop Wash Off (S&M Bucking Bulls) in Round 1.
Manning earned a combined 48 national points. He climbed from unranked to No. 35 in the Canadian standings.
Rounding out the Top 5 and tying for third was Weston Davidson (Strongfield, Saskatchewan), Shay Marks (Sunny Brook, Alberta) and Austin Paley (Beverlodge, Alberta).
Davidson and Marks both logged 84-point efforts in Round 1 to collect 19.83 points. They covered Watermelon Sugar Hi (Kinky Buckers) and Glamorama (S&M Bucking Bulls), respectively.
For Davidson, he rose one spot in the battle for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship from No. 19 to No. 18, while Marks climbed from unranked to No. 45.
Paley delivered in Round 1, besting Lucifer (Wilson Rodeo) for a matching 84 points, netting 19.33 national points. He rose from No. 36 to No. 30 in Canada.
In the bull pen, Aces High (S&M Bucking Bulls) bucked a cut above the rest, crowned the Bull of the Event. The bovine athlete was marked an unmatched 42.5 points for his 1.81 seconds of work against Wade Marshall (Invercargill, New Zealand) in Round 2.
