MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – As a record-setting crowd watched on Saturday night in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Australian sensation Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia) showed up and showed out, going a perfect 2-for-2 to win the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series’ Medicine Hat Classic, cracking the Top 15 in the race for the 2025 Canadian Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus.
Miller, who rides for the Austin Gamblers in the separate PBR Teams league, was dominant in Round 1, posting the top score when he outlasted Black Mamba (Lazy P Rodeo) for 86.5 points.
With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, Miller than elected to go head-to-head with Get Rhythm (Skori Bucking Bulls). Proving to be a perfect pairing, Miller was a near picture of perfection atop the powerful animal athlete, reaching the whistle for an event-best, and victory-clinching 89 points.
Courtesy of the golden finish, Miller earned a critical 136 national points. He climbed from No. 28 to No. 13 in Canada as he chases a late-season berth to the National Finals on Nov. 14-15 in Edmonton, Alberta, at Rogers Place.
Atop the battle for the 2025 PBR Canada Championship, No. 3 Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan) delivered a perfect 2-for-2 showing of his own to finish second, garnering 79 national points.
Parsonage rode Jojo’s Mojo (Lazy P Rodeo) for 83 points in Round 1, and Write This Down (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 86 points in the championship round.
After travelling to Medicine Hat 186.67 points behind No. 1 Dakota Buttar (Eatonia, Saskatchewan), Parsonage, who remained No. 3, slashed his deficit to 107.67 points.
Buttar finished 15th inside Co-op Place, earning no national points. While he went 1-for-1, his 74.5-point ride on After Burner (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle), for which he declined a re-ride, was not enough to punch his ticket to the final round.
No. 2 Jake Gardner (Fort St. John, British Columbia) also gained ground at the PBR Medicine Hat Classic. The “Prince of the Peace Country” tied for seventh, earning 19 national points, compliments of his 83.5-point effort on Highway to Heaven (Kinky Buckers) in Round 1. Gardner fell short of the win when he was upended by Whisky at Noon (Vold Rodeo) in 5.43 seconds in the final round.
Maintaining his No. 2 rank in Canada, Gardner was propelled within a mere 23.5 points of the No. 1 rank after beginning the event 42.5 points back.
As the only other rider to cover both of their draws, Garrett Green (Meeting Creek, Alberta) was third.
Green’s 84.5-point ride on House Fire (Eno Bucking Bulls) for Round 1, and 82.5-point score atop YOLO (Vold Rodeo) in the championship round, netted him 69 national points.
Seeking his first PBR Canada Championship this November, Green maintained his No. 4 rank but rose within 415.33 points of No. 1 Buttar.
Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) delivered an 85.5-point ride on Lost Creek (Vold Rodeo/R Saga Ranch) in Round 1 to finish fourth and collect 39 national points. He climbed from No. 20 to No. 17 in Canada.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Jordan Hansen (Amisk, Alberta).
The veteran contender’s 85-point trip on Forrest Gump (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) for the opening round, netted him 34 national points. Maintaining his No. 5 rank in Canada, Hansen now trails No. 1 Buttar by 510.5 points.
In the bull pen, Get Rhythm bucked supreme, crowned the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event. The powerful animal athlete was marked an unrivaled 43.5 points for his event-winning trip with Miller in the championship round.
The PBR Canada Cup Series next travels to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and SaskTel Centre for the PBR Saskatoon Classic, presented by Redhead Equipment and Case IH, on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25. Action will get underway nightly at 7 p.m. CST. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.ca
