MONCTON, New Brunswick – In front of a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 fans, Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) won the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) debut event in Moncton, New Brunswick, going 2-for-3 to earn his first event title of the season on the nation’s premier Monster Energy Tour, presented locally by Circle K.

Going 2-for-3 to earn a paycheck for $5,699.53, the 22-year-old also won a crucial 120 world points, catapulting him 14 spots in the world rankings, rising from No. 47 to No. 33. West also earned 540 Canadian points, where he surged from No. 6 to No. 3 in the national standings.

He began the sold-out Saturday night event, splitting the win in Round 1 after making the 8 aboard Applause (Vold Rodeo) for 86 points.

In the Championship Round, the young-gun drew a familiar foe in Double Major (Wild Hoggs / Corey Chmelnyk) who in three prior attempts he had yet to cover. Inside Moncton Coliseum, however, West was able to ride the Alberta-based bovine athlete, marked 87 points.

Backed by a similar 2-for-3 performance inside Moncton Coliseum, Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) finished second, to earn $4,395.92, 390 Canadian and 70 world points.

The 18-year-old phenom rode All Business (Two Bit Bucking Bulls / Hy-Kik Ranch) for 83.5 points in Round 2 before recording the high-marked ride of the event, 88.5 points on Pound Sand (Wild Hoggs / Corey Chmelnyk) in the Championship Round.

Much like West, Swearingen also rose in the world rankings, surging 30 positions from No. 94 to No. 64.

Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta), who led the event entering the final round, finished third after he covered Heaven Sent (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) and Pop The Latch (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 86 and 85.5 points, respectively, in the opening two rounds.

While he leaves New Brunswick with a check for $3,152.93, Radford more importantly earned 320 Canadian and 40 world points. The performance allowed the 23-year-old to reclaim the No. 1 ranking in the Canadian national standings, where he now leads No. 2 Marcos Gloria (Central de Minas, Brazil) by 187.5 points.

Fourth went to Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas).

The first rider to leave the chutes in Moncton, Alvidrez rode Another Black (Triple R Bull Co.) for 84 points, instantly bringing the crowd to its feet.

In his Canadian debut, the 21-year-old then made the 8 on Original Sin (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 86 points in the Championship Round.

For his efforts, Alvidrez earned $1,879.63, 195 Canadian and 20 world points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Wacey Finkbeiner (Ponoka, Alberta) who was propelled to his seventh Top-10 finish of the season by his 86-point trip on Wait for It (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) in Round 2 to earn $1,552.21, 165 Canadian and 15 world points.

Two bovine athletes split the bull of the event title after recording matching 43.5-point bull scores. Both bucking in the Championship Round, Happy Camper (Two Bit Bucking Bulls) earned his marks for his 7.92-second buckoff of Radford, while Two Point Oh (Skori Bucking Bulls) was awarded the score after dispatching Carlos Garcia (Hammonsport, New York) in 6.51 seconds.

Fans can relive all the action from the Moncton event on TSN2 when the network airs a one-hour highlights program on Tuesday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m. ET.

PBR Canada’s Monster Energy Tour will now take a one month break before travelling to Kelowna, British Columbia and Prospera Place on July 7 for the Okanagan PBR Challenge, presented by Westbank First Nation, Noralta Lodge, and Mac’s/Circle K.
