Radford Wins in North Battleford

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Saskatchewan -- Brock Radford (DeWinton, Alberta) earned his second PBR Canada Touring Pro Division (TPD) victory of 2017 Wednesday night, winning the 4th Annual Gold Eagle Casino PBR Classic presented by McDonald’s at the North Battleford Civic Centre. 

The 22-year-old began the night in dominating fashion, winning Round 1 with an 85.5-point ride aboard Big Shot (Skori Bucking Bulls). While Radford bucked off Minion Stuart (Skori Bucking Bulls) in the Championship Round, his efforts in the first round propelled him to his second win of the season.

For the finish, Radford earned $3,292.48, 275 Canadian points and 60 world points.

Radford leaves Saskatchewan ranked No.5 in the PBR Canada national standings, rising six spots in the rankings compliments of his win. He trails the new No.1 ranked rider Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) by 393.34 points.

Rookie Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) finished second after riding Snake Eyes (Battle River Rodeo) for 84.5 points in Round 1, earning $2,374.91 and 30 world points.

The finish caps a successful July campaign for the young Alberta rider, logging two additional Top 10 finishes at PBR Canada TPD events.

Justin Lloyd (Tisdale, Saskatchewan) finished third as the only rider to log a qualified ride in the championship round.

While the 29-year-old bucked off Finning Overhaul (Flying Four Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, he used his 84-point trip aboard Booster Juice (CS Bucking Bulls) in the short go to log his seventh Top-5 finish of the season in PBR competition.

His finish earned him $2,752.74, 125 Canadian points and 20 world points. Lloyd, now ranked No.3 in the PBR Canada national standings, trails No.1 Coverchuk by 287.5 points.

Finishing fourth was 23-year-old Coverchuk. The home-province rider’s finish was backed by his third place, 83-point ride aboard Painted Prize (Battle River Rodeo) in Round 1.

In addition to earning $1,079.50 and 15 world points, Coverchuk received 110 Canadian points, enough to overtake Jordan Hansen (Okotoks, Alberta) for the No.1 position in the PBR Canada national standings. Coverchuk now leads Hansen by 31.67 points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico). Contreras rode Identity Thief (Thompson Rodeo Livestock) for 82.5 points in Round 1 to earn $615.32 and 10 world points.

PBR Canada’s Touring Pro Division now travels to Kelowna, British Columbia for the Okanagan PBR Challenge on Wednesday, August 2 at Prospera Place. Action gets underway at 7:00 p.m. PT.
