SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – To culminate the most fiercely contended PBR Canada title race in history, Zane Lambert overcame a 500 point gap in the national standings, going 1-for-2 on the last night of the Monster Energy Tour Canadian Finals to earn his second PBR Canada Championship at the SaskTel Centre.

The 31-year-old joins Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan), who won the title in 2008, 2010 and 2012, as the only repeat title holders in Canadian history.

Lambert (Westbourne, Manitoba) also tied for the event victory, earning his second consecutive PBR Canada Finals event title, the first rider to accomplish the back-to-back feat.

He began the night riding Crooked Nose (Vold/Prescott) for 87.5 points to win Round 2 and head into the Championship Round atop the event leaderboard.

Lambert bucked off Evil Genius (Flying 4 Bucking Bulls) in the event’s final round, ending the Canadian Finals 2-for-3 having ridden Finning Lil Shorty (Flying 4 Bucking Bulls) for 86 points in Round 1 Friday night.

He leaves Saskatoon with $4,011.89.

Lambert, a six-time World Finals qualifier, will now travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Finals on Oct. 28-30 at South Point Arena.

After earning 65 world points for his event win, Lambert is now No.47 in the world standings, 125 points behind No.35 Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, NSW, Australia).

Splitting the event win with Lambert was Edgar Durazo (Moctezuma, Sonora, Mexico).

Despite being disqualified in Round 2 for a chute infraction, he rode Herf (Two Bit Bucking Bulls) in the Championship Round for 88 points to win the round. In Round 1 on Friday night he rode Heaven’s Basement (Vold/Prescott) for 85.5 points.

For the win Durazo earned $3,838.53, 1,262.5 Canadian points and 65 world points, to finish No.3 in the Canadian national standings after beginning the night No.10.

Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) secured the 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year title after riding Pozzy Time (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 81 points in Round 2.

The 18-year-old tied for fifth overall at the event to earn $965.82, 310 Canadian points and 12.5 world points.

He concluded his first PBR Canada season No. 20 in the standings, going 2-for-3 in Saskatoon after riding Grey Eyes (Vold/Prescott) for 86.5 points in Round 1.

Logan Biever (Claresholm, Alberta) finished third at the event as one of two riders to go 2-for-2 Saturday night.

In Round 2 Biever rode Open Season (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 85 points, before making the 8 aboard Minion Stuart (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 87 points in the Championship Round.

Overall he was 2-for-3 at the Saskatchewan event, bucking off Tykro Checkered Flag (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) at the event’s opening round.

Biever earned $2,426.94, 737.5 Canadian points and 30 world points to finish No.14 in Canada.

In fourth was Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico) who earned $1,411.59, 437.5 Canadian points and 20 world points.

He began the evening tying for second in Round 2 compliments of his 85-point ride Spot On (Wilson Rodeo) before bucking off Budadawabada (Big Chief Bucking Bulls) in the Championship Round.

Friday night, Contreras rode Pop The Latch (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 85 points in Round 1.

Dakota Louis (Browning, Montana) tied for fifth after riding both of his bulls on the last day of the Canadian Finals.

In Round 2 he rode Homeboy (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points and Pound The Alarm (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 85 points in the Championship Round.

He earned $866.77, 307.5 Canadian points and 12.5 world points to finish the year No.11 in the Canadian standings.

Centrifugal (R-Saga Ranch) earned top bull honors after putting up a bull score of 45.5 points for bucking off Brady Oleson in Round 2.

Next up in the PBR on Canadian soil is the inaugural PBR Global Cup in Edmonton, Alberta at Rogers Place from November 9-11.
