NAMPA, Idaho – On the cusp of being cut from the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), Canadian Dakota Buttar recorded his first career event victory at just the right time. With the 2017 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals only two events away and the world standings tightening up considerably, Buttar notched important points with his victory at the DeWalt Guaranteed Tough Invitational, presented by Ariat, Sunday afternoon at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.

Buttar (Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada), a member of Team Canada for the PBR’s Global Cup, ended his perfect 3-for-3 weekend with an 86.5-point ride on BC Circular Insanity (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round after riding Modified Clyde (Dakota Rodeo-Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Ken Barnhard) for 85.25 points in Round 2. It was the first time Buttar turned in a flawless performance at a BFTS event and it earned the 24-year old 475 world points and $32,860. He was also awarded a bonus of $5,000 from DeWalt Tools.

With the win, Buttar moved to No. 27 in the world standings, possibly solidifying his second ever World Finals qualification.

Reigning PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) finished in second place in Nampa and gained ground on world leader Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil). Davis went 2-for-3 in Idaho and rode two bulls on Championship Sunday. He opened his afternoon with an 86.75-point ride on Beast of Burden (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 before winning the championship round with a stunning 91-point ride on Set Em Up Joe (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls).

More importantly, Davis picked up 380 world points and $18,900 for the finish and shifted up to No. 2 in the world standings. He now trails No. 1 Aparecido by just 196.67 points with only two regular-season events remaining until the World Finals.

BFTS rookie Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma) finished in third place after his own 2-for-3 performance. Eldred rode both of his bulls on Championship Sunday, including an 87-point ride on Sully (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in Round 1 and an 88.25-point effort aboard Hey Jack (Jane Clark/Gene Owen) in the championship round.

Eldred pocketed 242.5 world points and $18,900, and moved to No. 26 in the world standings.

Cody Campbell (Summerville, Oregon) took home fourth place after going 2-for-3 as well. In Sunday’s championship round, Campbell matched a career-high when he rode Hedoo (Jane Clark/Gene Owen) for 90.25 points. The ride was Campbell’s highest on the BFTS since he rode More Bucks (Frontier Rodeo Co.) for the same score in 2009.

The fourth place finish was Campbell’s highest on the BFTS this season and it helped him net 202.5 points and $9,000, moving him to No. 31 in the world standings.

No. 6 Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas) rounded out the Top 5 in Nampa after going 2-for-3. Outlaw rode Right Turn Clyde (Flying S Bucking Bulls) for 84.75 points in Round 2 and was leading the field heading into the championship round but was bucked off by More Big Bucks (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in the last out of the night.

Outlaw did earn 155 world points and $7,480 for the effort, though, and kept pace in the World Championship race. He trails No. 1 Aparecido by 1,120.84 points.

Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) was named the YETI “Built For The Wild” Bull of the Event after recording a 46.25-point bull score for his buckoff of Outlaw in Saturday’s 15/15 Bucking Battle. The out helped Pearl Harbor retake the lead in the World Champion bull race, breaking a tie with reigning World Champion SweetPro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co.).

The world’s best bull riders will next make their way Raleigh, North Carolina, where PNC Arena will host the Frontier Communications Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires Oct. 14-15. The event will be the penultimate regular-season event before the PBR World Finals Nov. 1-5 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena meaning everything will be on the line.

Round 1 from Raleigh will be available on demand on PBR.com and the PBR app starting at 8 a.m. ET on Oct. 15.

Championship Sunday from North Carolina will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network at 2 p.m. ET on Oct. 15, with a full replay available the next day on PBR.com and the PBR app starting at 8 a.m. ET on Oct. 16.
