On Saturday night the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) took over Rexall Place for the Lakeview Equipment Sales Invitational. Brendon Clark (Morpeth, NSW, AUS) edged 2010 Team Canada Devon Mezei (Botha, AB) by half a point in both round one and the championship round to earn his first Cup Series win of the season. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a win,” commented Clark from the winners circle. “Things are starting to go my way.”
In round one Clark marked an 86.5 point ride on Bad To The Bone (Braithwaite Ranches) while Mezei rode Black Eye owned by K2 Bucking Bulls for 86 points. Mezei grabbed onto the lead after completing the first qualified ride of the championship round atop Mr. Echo (Girletz Rodeo Stock) with an impressive 90 point score. Coming out of the chute after Mezei, Clark rode Blacktail Hillbilly Deluxe (Wild Hoggs) for an amazing 90.5 points to claim the event title and $7,114.50.
Clark, who recently became a member of Team Australia, now heads to the 2010 World Cup with more confidence. “I’ve always had confidence,” continued Clark, “but it feels great to have a couple good bulls under my belt. I know there are critics questioning why I’m going but now I know I’m in a place to lead the team.”
